Guidong County in Chenzhou City received two brands and one title at the second Bo’ao International Conference on the Development of Geographical Indications on November 10.
They are the regional public brand of capital of China’s ecological high-mountain traditional Chinese medicine herbs, the regional public brand of a famous county for China’s ecological high-mountain vegetables. And the Lengshui rice series were awarded the title of China’s ecological origin GI product.
In recent years, the county government has given priority to the development of agriculture and rural areas, vigorously promoted the development of characteristic agricultural industries, like traditional Chinese medicine herb, high-altitude vegetables and Lengshui rice.
It has also focused on the path of green rising and high-quality development, worked to promote agricultural efficiency, increase farmers’ income and rural stability, comprehensively made new achievements in agricultural development, new changes in rural appearance, new improvements in farmers’ lives, and stimulated new vitality in rural governance.
Guidong County has 26 large-scale planting bases of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs with an area of more than 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), a planting area of 250,000 mu (16,666.67 hectares), an annual output of more than 24,000 tons.
It has 14 Chinese herb planting enterprises (including 2 municipal leading enterprises and 12 county-level leading enterprises), 38 farmers’ professional cooperatives (including 1 national level demonstration society and 1 provincial level demonstration society).
The traditional Chinese medicinal herb has been included in the regional public brand of “Xiangjiuwei traditional Chinese herbs”.
Paris polyphylla Smith, Huang Jing (rhizoma polygonati) and monk fruit were selected into the first batch of “Xiangganhong” authorized products.
Guidong Huang Jing and Guidong Monk Fruit were awarded GI trademark.
This year, the county planted over 30,000 mu (2.000 hectares) of Lengshui rice, established 3 demonstration bases with an area of over 500 mu (33.33 hectares), 8 demonstration bases of over 200 mu (13.33 hectares), and 5 professional demonstration villages for Lengshui rice planting.
Efforts have been made to build the regional public brand of Guidong Lengshui Rice. 7 rice categories were certified as green food and included in the “Xiangganhong” authorized products.
At the same time, the county government has worked to develop the characteristic vegetable planting industry, initially forming a high-altitude vegetable production area with such townships as Oujiang, Zhaiqian and Datang as the focus.
Thirteen large-scale vegetable production leading enterprises have emerged, including Xinrong Ecological Agriculture, Quanxin Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative, and Hunan Zuiyang High Mountain Ecological Agriculture (including a provincial-level company, four municipal-level ones, and eight county-level ones).
And it has one provincial-level high-quality agricultural product production base, and eight “vegetable basket” bases for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total area of 52,000 mu (3,466.67 hectares).
Two enterprises have been authorized by the “Xiangjiangyuan” vegetable public brand, and eight have obtained green food certification.
