In early winter, villagers are busy picking ripe shiitake mushrooms in Gaotang Qingquan Edible Fungi Planting Cooperative of Qianchong Village, Liyutang Town of Yongxing County.
The local government has fully utilized the local natural conditions to develop characteristic industries. In 2012, mushroom cultivation was introduced as a collective economic project in the village, and the cooperative was established.
After 12 years of development, it has developed multiple varieties such as oyster mushroom and pleurotus geesteranus, with gradually mature sales channels.
“In the past two years, our shiitake mushrooms have attracted many customers for good quality. We have regular customers, so we don’t have to worry about price or sales,” said the head of the cooperative.
This year, the planting area of the cooperative has increased to over 50 mu (3.33 hectares), with an expected output of 300,000 kg and a sales revenue of over 3.6 million yuan. A dividend of 45,000 yuan will be given to the Qianchong village committee.
This also effectively solves the employment problems for over 10 difficult households and strengthens the village collective economy.
