Liuhe Village has a long history of small bamboo purchasing and processing. Since 1970, some people have purchased small bamboo plants and sent them to the paper mill in Chenzhou City. With the expansion of market demand, there are more and more such people. Though its small bamboo is well-known, it has not formed a large-scale industry for a long time and there are no leading enterprises. So even during peak seasons, the prices are not ideal. Besides, bamboo plants are often disorderly stacked, which poses a significant safety hazard.

 

 

In 2023, the Dalingshan Bamboo and Wood Cooperative was established in Liuhe Village. As of now, the cooperative covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with the total investment of more than 700,000 yuan. Now, the small bamboo purchasing industry has become the main lever for consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and promoting rural revitalization, and has also become a pillar industry for local people to increase income.

 

“The cooperative originally aimed to strengthen the village collective economy. Since its establishment, it has brought great changes to our village and injected strong impetus into rural revitalization,” said Lei Yongping, Party secretary of Liuhe Village.

 

The previous decentralized operation in Liuhe Village limited the maximization of industrial benefits. Now, raw materials are purchased and products are sold by the cooperative, so the profits are boosted, with the annual income of the village collective economy increasing by 40,000 yuan. 

 

 

Through large-scale operation and industrial chain extension, the cooperative receives orders across the country, such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Hubei, Hainan, and Shandong, which has driven the development of the local transportation industry and enhanced the reputation of the bamboo and wood industry in Liuhe Village.

 

Liuhe Village has made efforts to seek for policy and financial support and create a favorable environment for the development of the cooperative to promote the high-quality development of rural industries. Nowadays, the cooperative achieves the annual output of over 690,000 bundles of small bamboo plants, with an annual sales revenue of over 9 million yuan.
