Recently, Ou Shuwen harvested the brown red Antler Reishi mushrooms (ganoderma lucidum) he planted in the Pingshi Village Industrial Base. Antler Reishi can improve respiratory tract, treat symptoms such as neurasthenia, indigestion, and cough.

The base has planted Antler Reishi since 2023. Currently, there are 5,000 mushroom bags in the base, with an annual production of 200 kilograms and a market price of 600 yuan per kilogram.

“The greenhouse with over 1,000 square meters in the village has been built. We plan to introduce 30,000 mushroom bags next spring to grow Antler Reishi,” said Ou Shuwen.

In addition, more than 10 villagers were busy picking melons and loading them onto trucks in the fructus trichosanthis base of Pingshi Village. The base, with an area of 50 mu (about 3.33 hectares), has cultivated 4,600 high-quality fructus trichosanthis seedlings, with an expected annual output value of up to 400,000 yuan.

“I can earn 100 yuan per day, and I am very happy,” said a villager from Pingshi Village.

“We plan to expand the planting base by 30 mu (2 hectares), providing more villagers with jobs,” said the head of fructus trichosanthis base.

Pingshi Village has guided villagers to develop characteristic planting industries such as ganoderma lucidum, fructus trichosanthis, and lily through abandoned land remediation and land transfer. It has formed diversified and large-scale development of characteristic industries, and helped increase agricultural efficiency and farmers’ income.

“We will further optimize industrial structure, refine existing industries, and develop emerging industries to boost the village collective economic income,” said Ou Tiansheng, deputy Party secretary of Pingshi Village.
