460 mu (about 30.67 hectares) of forest land in the village has been transferred to plant red-fleshed pomelos. The pomelos are sold through the cooperation with supermarkets, fruit specialty stores, and Chenzhou fruit wholesale markets in surrounding counties, and Yongxing County’s fruit e-commerce platforms. The pomelo industry has helped impoverished households in 11 natural villages such as Yanzhutang and Xiaobaiyuan to increase income and strengthened the collective economy.

 

In recent years, Jiahe County has promoted the development of village-level industries according to local conditions, and explored diversified models of village collective economy, forming unique paths for the development of village collective economy.

 

Tanping Town has made efforts to stimulate the vitality of industrial development in each village and implemented a strict supervision mechanism to ensure the steady development of the village collective economy. At present, the town has cultivated characteristic industries such as tobacco, traditional Chinese medicinal materials, selenium-rich rice, vegetables, red-fleshed pomelo, cotton, tofu, etc., and 23 villages in the town have their own characteristic industry.
