Tantou Village is one of the 52 administrative villages in the Xihe Rural Revitalization Demonstration Area of Chenzhou City. The ancient tea oil making skill has a history of over a thousand years here. 

 

“Oil tea making is a traditional industry in Tantou Village. There are a large number of skilled craftsmen engaged in it,” said Zeng Yueguo, leader of the resident working team in Tantou Village.

 

Oil tea making is also a characteristic and pillar industry of Tantou Village. There are 11 small oil tea making workshops in the village with an annual output value exceeding 15 million yuan. In 2023, Tantou Village applied for the “One Village, One Product” characteristic agricultural product project to cultivate the oil tea making industry.

 

On the basis of the existing good industrial foundation, in order to better develop the oil tea making industry, more than 500,000 yuan has been invested to build an oil tea making plant in the village.

 

In 2023, the village built the reinforced concrete roof for the original primary school building and installed photovoltaic power generation equipment on the roof with the investment of 240,000 yuan. Since June this year, it has also invested more than 150,000 yuan to change doors and windows and harden the floors.

 

After that, an additional 120,000 yuan was invested to purchase two pieces of oil tea making equipment. In this way, the school building of the original Tantou Village Primary School has been renovated into the Tantou Village Oil Tea Making Factory.

 

On November 15 of this year, Yongxing County Tantou Oil Tea Processing Co., Ltd. was put into production and signed a framework agreement for the purchase and sale of oil tea with special units and merchants invited by the units that provide the village  with paired assistance.

 

“The company can drive the joint development of 10 oil tea workshops and nearly 100 oil tea growers in the village. It is expected to produce 12 tons of tea oil annually, with an annual output value of over 1.2 million yuan and an increase of 20,000 yuan in the collective economic income,” said Zeng Yueguo.

 

In addition, the company can also provide job opportunities for disadvantaged groups such as women, left-behind elderly, impoverished households, and monitored households. Nowadays, more than 20 villagers work here every day, with a wage of nearly 100 yuan per person per day.

 

“We will strive to develop the company into a shining brand in Tantou Village,” said Zeng Yueguo, who is full of confidence in the future of the company.
