As of now, Guidong County has formed a high-altitude vegetable production area in towns such as Oujiang, Zhaiqian, Datang, Dongluo, Shatian, and Sidu. Thirteen large-scale vegetable production enterprises have sprung up, including Xinrong Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., New Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative, and Hunan Zuiyang High-mountain Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd.

 

Wang Zhen, head of Hunan Zuiyang High-mountain Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., said that the company, based on the market demand, has implemented crop rotation relying on the unique high-altitude climate. It takes 2 to 3 months to harvest a batch of vegetables on average. Three different varieties of vegetables can be planted in turn per year. Currently, the third harvest has been completed.

 

In 2024, the company has achieved the total sales volume of over 5,000 tons, with a cumulative output value of nearly 15 million yuan, and the wages of more than 2 million yuan paid.

 

Guidong County has established one provincial-level high-quality agricultural product production base and ten “vegetable basket” bases for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total area of 52,000 mu (about 3,466.67 hectares). It also has two enterprises authorized as the “Xiangjiangyuan” vegetable public brand, and eight ones with green food certification. 

 

In 2024, the output value of the high-altitude vegetable industry in Guidong County has reached 363 million yuan, with a processing output value of 276 million yuan, driving 3,000 farmers to increase income.
