Red-fleshed pomelos are ripe for harvest in Bohua Ecological Agriculture Industrial Park, Mantang Village, Tanping Town, Jiahe County.
Farmers were busy picking, sorting and bagging pomelos. With the use of organic fertilizer, the pomelos here are sweet, juicy, and tasty.
“There are many mountains and land rich in selenium, so pomelos have a good taste,” said Li Baihua, Party secretary of Mantang Village and head of the park.
This year, there are 460 mu (about 30.67 hectares) of red-fleshed pomelos in the park. They are sold online and offline. At the same time, the park has taken the initiative in reaching out for distributors to promote the sales of pomelos.
The red-fleshed pomelos bring considerable benefits to the village collective, and provides employment opportunities for nearby villagers who have difficulty traveling and are unemployed at home.
The park has developed characteristic industries such as red-fleshed pomelos, navel oranges and tobacco. With the total planned investment of about 8 million yuan, it has adopted the model of “collective economy plus cooperatives plus farmers” to promote rural revitalization through characteristic planting and breeding industries.
“The pomelos are in short supply and can almost be sold out, which has truly strengthened the village collective economy and helped poverty-stricken households with employment,” said Li Baihua.
