In recent years, Zuquan Village in Liyutang Town, Yongxing County has developed the goat industry according to local conditions to increase income of the village collective and farmers.
Zhao Nengjun, a farmer in Zuquan Village, felt pleased when looking at the strong black goats that headed straight to the forest from the sheep shed.
“We breed black goats, which are mainly sold to markets nearby. Currently, there are about 120 goats, with each weighing 30 to 40 kilograms and 100 yuan per kilogram,” he said.
The free-range goats move freely in the vast mountains. This breeding method makes goats physically strong and have a unique taste with tender meat and rich nutrients, so they are deeply loved by consumers.
Zhao Nengjun had worked outside for more than ten years, but in order to take care of his family, he returned to his hometown and started a business in 2010. Through self-study and continuous research on breeding techniques, he has raised over a hundred goats now, with an annual income of 40,000 to 50,000 yuan.
With the continuous expansion of breeding scale, he plans to further optimize breeding methods to improve the quality and yield of goats. Meanwhile, he also hopes to inspire more villagers to raise goats through his own efforts so as to boost income together.
