Retired soldier leads villagers to better lives

 Li Yiping, Party secretary of Tuoshan Village, Tanping Town, Jiahe County, was busy repairing the fenced small vegetable garden on January 15, together with some villagers.

He is a retired soldier. Although he has not been in the military for many years, he still holds himself to the strict standards for a soldier. Under his leadership, the cohesion of Tuoshan Village has significantly increased, providing strong organizational support for the development of the village.
 
In order to provide learning, leisure, and entertainment venues for villagers, a Red education culture square as well as a “Red cultural wall” has been built, with an area of more than 2,000 square meters, which help enrich the cultural life of villagers and enhance their patriotism.
 
At the same time, Li Yiping has made efforts to develop characteristic industries based on the actual situation of the village, to help villagers increase their income. He has sought funding and guided villagers to develop animal husbandry, planting, and other industries.
 
“Since I have become the village secretary, I must pay attention to what the people are concerned about and do my best to solve problems for them,” said Li Yiping.
He has helped people in difficulties assess their disabilities, receive subsistence allowances, and obtain welfare benefits. He has worked to improve the village’s infrastructure, repaired damaged roads, planted green trees on both sides of village roads, widened streets, and demolished dangerous and old buildings. 
 
He has advocated for civilized rural customs, transformed outmoded customs and traditions, guided villagers to establish good moral standards, carried out new-era civilization practice activities to promote socialist core values.
 
In November 2024, Li Yiping was awarded a “Good People in Chenzhou”.
