Born in October 1974, he is a villager from Songbai Village, Xiangyindu Subdistrict, Yongxing County. Over the years, he has made remarkable achievements in the field of agriculture. He was awarded the title of “Special Support Grain Grower in Hunan” in 2020 and won the “Excellent Grain Grower in Chenzhou City” in 2021. The Yongxing Dadi Agricultural Machinery Professional Cooperative, which he is responsible for, also has won many honors, such as the “Modern Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Hunan” in 2015 and the “Provincial Demonstration Center for Regional Agricultural Socialized Comprehensive Services” in 2023.

 

Since 2013, Peng Xiongwu has embarked on his agricultural journey. By transferring land, introducing high-yield varieties, and promoting advanced agricultural machinery, he has achieved continuous increase in grain production and driven the surrounding people to boost grain production. When the cooperative was first established, there were only three tractors and two harvesters for more than 900 mu (60 hectares) of arable land he transferred. While meeting its own needs, he also provided small-scale services to surrounding farmers.

 

 

With the reduction of rural labor force and low grain production efficiency, the cooperative has transferred more than 1,760 mu (about 117.33 hectares) of arable land. It’s urgent to improve the utilization rate of agricultural machinery. 

 

Peng Xiongwu led his team to survey the demand for agricultural machinery throughout the county, and invested more than 8 million yuan to purchase advanced agricultural machinery and equipment, providing fully mechanized services for rice cultivation, planting, and storage. 

 

In 2024, agricultural machines provided plowing, transplanting, harvesting, and prevention services for more than 15,000 mu (1,000 hectares), over 8,000 mu (about 533.33 hectares), over 18,000 mu (1,200 hectares), over 35,000 mu (about 2,333.33 hectares) of land respectively. And over 6,000 tons of rice were dried by machine.

 

The operating income of the cooperative reached 11.6785 million yuan, and the members’ income was increased by more than 100,000 yuan. The net profit hit 1.2584 million yuan.

 

 

Peng Xiongwu is well aware of the importance of professionalism in agricultural machinery services. After more than 10 years of efforts, he has established a comprehensive operational system, with professional teams responsible for information collection, operator training, safety management, and agricultural machinery maintenance. The cooperative always puts service quality first, with open and transparent information, and provides “order-based” and “full process custody based” services according to the needs of customers.

 

The coperative has expanded its services based on rice production, including the spraying of cadmium repellents on rice, prevention and control of rapeseed diseases and pests, and the preservation of flowers and fruits in Yongxing Bingtang oranges, with the service area extending from Yongxing to 6 counties and districts within Chenzhou City. 

 

In addition, the cooperative has purchased over 1,000 tons of agricultural materials and more than 200 sets of agricultural machinery, and sold over 50,000 tons of rice for its members and farmers, saving farmers about 100 yuan per mu (about 0.067 hectares). With professionalism and care, it has won the trust of the villagers.

 

The implementation of the rural revitalization strategy has brought new opportunities and challenges to Peng Xiongwu. He has integrated the agricultural machinery forces within the county and unified the scheduling of operation time to expand the service area.

 

At the same time, he has carried out cross regional operations by cooperating with agricultural machinery cooperatives and agricultural enterprises outside the province, solving the problems of grain harvest, transportation, and drying for farmers, improving the comprehensive production capacity of grain, and protecting the enthusiasm of farmers for growing grain.

 

 

The cooperative has registered the “Dadi Jiaxing” rice trademark and implemented contract-based production. In 2024, 8,000 mu (about 533.33 hectares) of land adopted contract agriculture, helping 2,400 households increase income by an additional 50 yuan per mu (about 0.067 hectares).
