Xu Monan, the owner of the base, got his big start from his early business, and then he built a magnificent rural villa and lived a leisurely life.

Xu Monan contracted the Bingtang orange base of the village’s collective and transferred 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of barren mountains to establish a Bingtang orange base. He also paid at his own expense to study citrus planting and management techniques in Shaoguan of Guangdong province, Ganzhou of Jiangxi province and other places. 

 

Xu Monan said, “I found that citrus greening disease is fatal for Bingtang oranges. Once infected, the base would be destroyed. So I invested several thousand of yuan to install net rooms and greenhouses to prevent this disease.” 

 

The local government has also provided supporting funds for him. 

 

In Jingtang village, there are also other new farmers like Xu who are developing industries in barren mountains. Now, more than 400 mu (26.67 hectares) of Bingtang orange trees were planted on the barren mountains. 

 

Recently, they have been busy installing net sheds and applying base fertilizer. 

 

 

The high-standard farmland construction project at the foot of the mountain has resumed work, with large machines shuttling through the fields.

 

“As a well known core demonstration area for double cropping rice in Zixing city, the village has obtained 4.6 million yuan of funds for the high-quality transformation and construction of high-standard farmland, with a total area of over 1,100 mu (73.33 hectares) of farmland transformed.” The deputy Party secretary said.

 

The project will be completed by the end of March, and then there will be over 1,900 mu (126.67 hectares) of high-quality farmland. 

 

The village officials from Jingtang village and agricultural technicians from Zixing city are working hard to equip greenhouses with temperature and humidity control facilities, complete water and fertilizer spraying and drip irrigation equipment, and put them into operation as soon as possible. 

 

The newly built seedling raising greenhouse covers an area of 4,600 square meters. 

 

In spring, it can help large grain growers in Zixing City to raise more than 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) of seedlings, while in autumn and winter, during the agricultural off-season, such vegetables and fruits as strawberry, cucumber and pepper can be planted in the greenhouse. This will greatly help promote industrial revitalization.
