Taro is mainly sold to processing enterprises and wholesale markets in the Pearl River Delta region, with broad market prospects. Ouyang Jie, a large grower, said that there are more than 300 mu (20 hectares) of taro at the base this year, with a yield of about 2,500 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares) and more than six yuan per kilogram.

Thanks to proper management and excellent agricultural technology services, the yield of taro has increased significantly compared to last year, with good quality. It’s highly favored by merchants from the Greater Bay Area. It’s expected to achieve the sales revenue of 6 million yuan this year, with half of it already completed.

The bountiful harvest of taro not only brings direct economic benefits to growers but also provides job opportunities for nearby villagers. A worker at the base said that she earns about 3,000 yuan per month by working on field management at the base, and she also has the time to take good care of her family.
