It’s now the time to plant tea trees. Sanjiangkou Yao Town in Rucheng County is busy planting Baimao tea trees.

Farmers were occupied with digging soil and planting tea seedlings at the tea plantation base of Mingxing Village, adding a touch of green to the mountains. A farmer said that it’s crucial to accurately determine the planting date.
Early planting may lead to growth retardation and freezing damage caused by low temperature and cold waves. But if seedlings are planted too late, they will miss the optimal climatic conditions for growth, which will affect the later maturity and harvesting.
At the same time, attention should be paid to the density of seedlings during planting to avoid insufficient growth space and competition for nutrients caused by excessive density of tea seedlings. It should also not be too sparse, for it will affect land use efficiency.
Mingxing Village plans to plant 44 mu (about 2.93 hectares) of Rucheng Baimao tea this year, and will continue to expand the planting area in the future, in a bid to increase the collective economic income and create employment opportunities for villagers.
In recent years, relying on its resource advantages, Sanjiangkou Yao Town has strengthened the Baimao tea industry and made efforts to achieve modernized seedling cultivation, large-scale planting, and standardized processing, so as to increase tea production, industrial efficiency, and villagers’ income.
