The Cole Flowers Festival was held at Yiliu Village in Yiliu Town of Yizhang County from March 8 to 10. The “Yizhang Night Stories” was staged in the sea of cole flowers, allowing tourists to experience the unique cultural charm of national intangible cultural heritage up close and enriching their tourism experience.

Over 100-mu (about 6.67 hectares) of cole flowers are in full bloom in the village, with creative photo spots set up. Tourists strolled through the flowers to take photos and enjoy the beautiful spring scenery.
During the festival, the rural music concert was launched, allowing tourists to experience the poetic and picturesque rural scenery in the music. The rural basketball game was also held together with surrounding villages, showcasing a new image of civilization, harmony, and happiness in the countryside. Besides, the “Yizhang Night Stories” was staged, with various vivid characters on show.
Yizhang has a profound cultural heritage, and “Yizhang Night Stories” is a unique folk cultural activity in the local area. Folk legends and theatrical characters are fixed on a table for parade through theatrical expression techniques. It has been passed down in the local area for more than 700 years. It was included among the national intangible cultural heritage projects in 2010.
In recent years, Yiliu Town has increased efforts to improve the rural environment and land transfer through the development of hot springs, wellness and flowers appreciation, and carried out various activities based on cole flowers to help villagers boost income and promote the integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism.
