As the day gets warmer, green new shoots are growing from tea trees in Qiaotou township of Guidong county, Chenzhou city, welcoming the first season of spring tea leaves in 2025.
At the Shangkeng tea garden in the township, tea farmers are busy picking tea leaves. Spring tea has the best price, and the income it brings accounts for most of the year’s total.
A tea merchant said that the market price for fresh tea leaves is 140 yuan per kg, and there is a large market demand.
In recent years, the township government has cultivated the tea industry to extend the industrial chain, achieved a virtuous cycle between agricultural resources revitalization, rural economic development and farmers’ income increase, and injected strong impetus into the local rural revitalization.
Statistics show that the township has 32,000 mu (2,133.33 hectares) of high-quality tea gardens. It’s expected that the output of dried tea leaves in spring this year will exceed 50 tons.
Next, the township will further integrate the primary, secondary and tertiary industries to create a tea industry complex that integrates planting and processing, tea culture experience and ecotourism, working to make Qiaotou tea a brilliant brand for enriching the people and strengthening the township.
