The bamboo-scented duck next was also delicious. Washed duck was placed on fresh bamboo slices and then steamed, which not only preserves the original richness of the duck meat, but also adds the fragrance of bamboo. 

 

 

Besides, the bamboo-scented chicken was fragrant but not greasy. It’s made with local free-range chicken, which was steamed together with fresh bamboo slices. 

 

The bamboo-tube-cooked rice is the staple food of the restaurant. The soaked Lengshui rice of Guidong, mixed with fried corn, diced carrot, green beans, diced cured meat and other ingredients, is poured into the bamboo tube and then stewed in low heat. The rice absorbs the natural fragrance of bamboo and becomes sweet and delicious. 

 

 

 

“We want to inherit the flavor of Hakka cuisine in the simplest way, so that every dish has the ‘taste of home’,” said Guo Xubing, the owner of the restaurant.

 

At present, the restaurant is exploring more possibilities for the integration of bamboo and food on the basis of the existing bamboo-scented dishes such as bamboo-scent chicken and bamboo-scented duck.

 

 

 

“We have recently developed bamboo-tube-steamed egg and bamboo-scented pettitoes, allowing more tourists to taste our Hakka cuisine,” said Guo Xubing.

 

These bamboo-scented delicacies add new highlights to local catering are also connected with the development of the bamboo industry in Qiaotou Township.
