Villagers were busy harvesting, sorting, and delivering them to various distributors. “Pine mushrooms have the best tasteand are the best for picking when they are 2.6 inches tall. Two batches can be harvested per day, with a yield of over 1,500 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares). Pine mushrooms are planted in November and harvested from the Spring Festival until the end of April,” said Huang Lifeng, the head of the base.

Pine mushrooms have fragrant aroma, crispy texture, and rich nutrition. In recent years, relying on the local natural resources, the company has built a 15-mu (1 hectare) demonstration base for pine mushroom cultivation through rice-mushroom rotation.

Pine mushrooms are priced at 30 to 60 yuan per kilogram, with an output value of more than 40,000 yuan per mu (about 0.067 hectares). The good economic benefits have motivated more farmers in surrounding towns such as Yuxi, Jiangshui, and Huangsha to plant pine mushrooms.
