Qingquan town has a long history of tea cultivation, and it was famous for its Yunwu tea during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Thanks to the unique climate with an average altitude of over 700 meters and selenium-rich soil, Qingquan Tea is known for its plum buds and leaves, clear soup color and long-lasting aroma. Lilo Tea has been certified as a national geographical indication product.

The town currently has a tea plantation area of 21,500 mu (1,433.33 hectares), with an annual output of over 750 tons of high-quality dry tea. It is an important production base for high mountain tea in Hunan Province.

In recent years, the town government has made efforts to develop an all-for-one wellness mountain county, focused on promoting the integrated development of Hakka culture and tea culture.

With the tea industry as the core, it has created many cultural tourism projects, and tea tourism routes, to further improve the quality and upgrading of the tea tourism industry.

Tea is the “heirloom” of Qingquan town, while bamboo leaves are the rising “green star”.

Relying on the 11,000 mu (733.33 hectares) of bamboo forests in the whole town, it has become the largest bamboo leave distribution center in Southeastern Hunan Province.

Before the Dragon Boat Festival every year, green bamboo leaves are sold around the county.

“Bamboo leaves can be sold all year round, and the local bamboo leaves have better quality than those in other places. Fresh leaves can be sold for more than 8 yuan per kilogram, and I sold over 500 yuan today,” said a local bamboo leave grower in Qingquan Town, happily.

Zhongkeng Village Farmers’ Professional Cooperative has driven the development of 1,000-mu (66.67 hectares) bamboo leave bases. With a development model of industry plus base plus farmers, Zhongkeng Village has invested 240,000 yuan to create an 80-mu (5.33 hectares) high-quality bamboo leave bases.

After the base is put into operation, the village’s collective economy will increase by 40,000 yuan annually.

The development of tea and bamboo leaves is not only a vivid epitome of industrial revitalization in Qingquan Town, but also a successful example of the transformation of ecological value into economic value.
