Recently, farmers were busy picking Mingqian tea leaves in the “Party Branch Farm” tea plantation of Guangtian village, Xingning town in Zixing city.

Last year, affected by Typhoon Gaemi, more than 30 mu (2 hectares) of tea was damaged. With the unremitting efforts of the Party branch, tea farmers in the village were organized to carry out reconstruction after the disaster. Party members and villagers were organized to remove the overlying tea trees, debris and mud, repair the irrigation facilities and roads.
Meanwhile, agricultural experts were invited to assess the tea trees and guide villagers to prune and fertilize them.
After several months of hard work, the tea plantation has resumed production, laying a solid foundation for this year’s spring tea picking.
Mingqian tea refers to tea leaves picked before the Qingming Festival in southern China, which boasts excellent quality.
Local villagers come to pick tea leaves in the tea garden at this time every year, which can increase their income.
The “branch farm” tea plantation not only provides employment opportunities for local villagers, but also promotes rural industrial revitalization.
Xu Faqiang, secretary of the Party Branch of Guangtian Village, said, “the village has actively explored the development model in which the Party branch leads the way, the cooperative is responsible for organization and management, farmers engage in planting and picking, which has increased the income of both villagers and the village collective. The Mingqian tea this year will give us more confidence in restoring production and life.”
