Blooming naval orange flowers attracted many tourists to admire the flowers and take photos at the navel orange planting base of Xibiao Planting Professional Cooperative in Yizhang County.

 

Since 2012, the cooperative, relying on its location near the Mangshan Mountain Tourist Area, has planted more than 400 mu (about 26.67 hectares) of navel oranges, and built 7 homestay inns with 40 guest rooms in the garden, which helps villagers boost income at their doorstep. 

 

 

“In recent days, the base has welcomed waves of tourists, including those from Guangdong. The occupancy rate of guest rooms has reached over 70% during the days when navel oranges are in bloom. We need to strengthen flower protection to ensure a good harvest,” said Yu Xibiao, head of the base.

 

 

Yizhang County is the main production area of the southern Jiangxi-southern Hunan- northern Guangxi advantageous navel orange industry belt planned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and it is also a key county for citrus production in Hunan Province.

 

In recent years, it has developed more than 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares) of navel oranges, with the comprehensive output value of over 2.5 billion yuan. The navel orange industry has helped nearly 100,000 people in the county to increase their income.
