First Chenzhou High-mountain Tea Competition to kick off

The first Chenzhou High-mountain Tea Competition as well as the Guidong “Tea Culture” tourism season will kick off at the 10,000-mu (about 666.67 hectares) tea plantation in Qingquan Town of Guidong County on April 12.

The event will be a perfect collision of tea art and cultural tourism as well as a poetic blend of tradition and fashion. Tea lovers, experienced travelers, and cultural enthusiasts will be invited to enjoy tea and culture.

There will be exciting performances, high-mountain tea tasting and Hakka specialty snacks. Visitors can also take a helicopter tour. 
This event is open to the public. 
 
This competition requires participants to complete handmade green tea within the specified time. The panel of judges are experts from Hunan Agricultural University, Hunan Tea Research Institute, Hunan Tea Association, Chenzhou Agricultural Science Institute, and Chenzhou Tea Industry Association.
 
The fresh tea leaves for this competition will be harvested by farmers in designated tea gardens. The total score will be calculated on a 100-point scale. The tea making stage, from distributing fresh tea leaves to delivering tea samples, will be controlled within 1 hour and 30 minutes.
 
The winners will be awarded cash prizes. Besides, The top four winners can also enjoy a free helicopter tour in the park.
