It was reported that Pu Xuelian- Member of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee and Secretary-general of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee investigated modern tobacco industry of Guiyang county on March 8, 2016. Pu and his team visited the construction site of land consolidation project of Guanglu village, Aoquan town, new curing barn project of Dahu village, Renyi town, Aphidius Test Site of Fukou village, Zhangshi town, and some other modern tobacco projects. They visited some local farmers to learn details of the tobacco plantation business of them.

Flue-cured tobacco is one of the mainstay industries of Guiyang county. Averagely speaking, 200,000mu tobacco leaves are cultivated by the county with a stable yield of 0.5-0.6million loads/year, accounting for 800million yuan output value. Yunyan 87, Xiangyan 5, and Yunyan 99 are the key species cultivated there. In 2015, the land consolidation project covered with 31,200mu areas and 78million yuan investments were handled out in three units (Liufeng unit, Aoquan unit, and Zhenghe unit).

In 2016, in order to improve the tobacco industry and implement the areas, Guiyang Finance paid investments on building 4000 intensive curing barns and confirmed to build 3988 buildings of tobacco test groups in 351 places which were distributed in 206 villages. 59,000mu tobacco lands and 4000 tobacco farmers would be benefited from the policy which remitted insufficient curing capacity, so that would help to lay foundation for consolidating the plantation areas.

Pu Xuelian highly affirmed the work handled out by Guiyang county and tobacco departments of Chenzhou city on promoting the development of Guiyang county’s modern tobacco industry. He expressed his hope that Guiyang county can keep improving large scale production, mechanization, and scientification of tobacco industry; keep implementing favorable policies to tobacco farmers; keep upgrading infrastructure construction, land transfer, training, and other work; and keep paying efforts on establishing a modern tobacco demonstration. All of those were purposely to improve tobacco industry to be a significant industry to increase people’s income.
