Yizhang Economic Development Zone, established in April of 1992, was among the first batch of provincial development zones of Hunan. With the planned area of 1,072 hectares, it administers three parks; industry undertaking park, Baishidu Fluorine Chemical Cycle Industrial Park and processing trade park. Each of the three is independent and has its own industry orientation. With Guangdong Province as its neighbor, Beijing-Zhuzhou Expressway, 107 National Highway and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway running through it, the zone has got apparent geographic and traffic advantage. It relies on the resource advantage of Yizhang which is rich in coal, nonferrous metal and non-metallic resources and seizes the opportunity of industry transfer of coastal areas, takes the advantage in policy which favors the early try and trial, and makes efforts to forge a No.1 city in Huann Province and Guangdong Province and the preferred zone of industry undertaking.

The industry undertaking park of Yizhang Economic Development zone, with the planned area of 265 hectare east of the county of Yizhang, mainly undertakes such high and new industries as electronic information, mechatronics, fine and further processing, bio-pharmacy, and other industries including food processing, clothing, footwear, hats, leather toys and logistics distribution. With the total investment amounting to 120 million yuan by now, it has leveled 751 mu of land and constructed the road, water and electricity, and completely accomplished the first phase construction of standard workshops of 20,000 ㎡ and other supporting facilities, with the second phase of standard workshops of 50,000 ㎡ and supporting facilities under way. Baishidu Florine Chemical Cycle Industrial Park of Yizhang Economic Development zone, with the planned area of 200.73 hectare, is dedicated to the development of fluorine chemical products, depending on the rich fluorite resource in the park. Recently, Hongyuan Chemical Co., Ltd., has entered the park. With an total investment of 122.7 million yuan, it has leveled 400 mu of land, constructed workshops of 19 000 ㎡ and supporting facilities and had the aluminum fluoride drying production line built and put into production. The processing trade park of Yizhang Economic Development zone, with a planned area of 533 hectare and the total investment of about 1.4 billion in its infrastructure construction, mainly develop fine and further processing of agricultural by-products and labor-intensive industries. Meanwhile, it properly assorts the production and living service facilities. All the efforts are made to forge it into a processing trade park of high industrial intensity and strong radiant drive.
