When reporters arrived at Qingjiang county, Zixing city recently, cantaloupes in the field were ready to pick up. The farmers told the reporters gladly that because of good marketing condition, all the cantaloupes can be sold with a good price.

Qingjiang county was famous as “county of fruit” in Zixing city for its unique lake area microclimate, sound ecological condition, unique soil composition and ecological planting methods. All the fruits grown up there would be sweeter than other places which enabled its fruits with a good marketing condition.

In 2013, under the practical condition that cantaloupe would be in knee demand of the consumers. Three farmers of the Qingjiang county followed a unique method to guide 80 families joined their planting plan of cantaloupe. All cantaloupes would be planted, instructed with technologies and purchases together. One of the planters of cantaloupe shared his sweet cantaloupe with the reporters and highly praised that the cantaloupe was upgraded with much better quality with the technological instruction of professors.

It was learned that in earlier years, rice planting was the key industry for Qingjiang county. With the industrial transformation, it was improved to be a fruit county which greatly helped to increase the income of farmers. As mentioned above, with the unique advantages of the county, Qingjiang’s fruits were with good marketing conditions, no exception for cantaloupe. The estimated yield for the cantaloupe this year would be more than 0.6 million kilograms with 2800yuan/mu income.
