When reporters arrived at the scenic belt along south bank of Dongjiangwan, Zixing city, water, green trees, garden, winding path and fall grant a picturesque water ecological landscape for local citizens and nonlocal visitors. As learned from local citizens, it was used to a wetland covered with weeds.

Water is the best feature of Zixing city. How to handle out the water ecological civilization construction based on the water resource? Zixing city well seized the chances of the construction of some major water conservancy projects as reinforcement of reservoir, treatment of river, ecological restoration, and etc. that it integrated the elements of water conservancy area at the very first step of project planning and tried to reach the target of “one water conservancy project, one water conservancy area”. From 2015, the treatment for Liaoshi river, Tangxi river and some other medium and small rivers were finished in Zixing city. It also launched Dongjiangwan north bank landscape project which was purposely to be established as an ecological lobby with the functions of ecology, culture and leisure. 6 nodes of landscape engineering were planned to be carried out along the belt to grant the belt with the views of “fluent river, clear water, convenient road and beautiful landscape”.

The rural ecological demonstration park is the key point for Zixing city’s construction of water ecological civilization. Shuangxidong new rural water ecological demonstration park covers 18 groups of 3 villages. Comprehensive treatment of rural small basins, small irrigation and conservancy construction, comprehensive treatment of mines’ environment, beautiful rural construction, and etc. were being carried out in Zixing city. Treatment and vegetation restoration work were handled out in the coals located in the upstream of rivers; clearance and afforestation work were handled out in the river branches; and bicycle lanes were built along the rivers. Shuangxidong water ecological demonstration park is with a livable image.

In order to explore and utilize the water conservancy resource reasonably and avoid the blind development, Zixing Water Conservancy Bureau worked together with some departments as tourism and housing to cover the construction of water conservancy area into local general planning of tourism and urban construction, and improve the development of water conservancy area based on local practical condition. In the north of Zixing city, a natural and open wetland park was being improved as “Xiang Tianxia, Liaojiang small town” water ecological highlight project with the principal landscape axis of Liaoshi river and Chenjiaping river. In the south of Zixing city, Huangcao town figured out an ecological and natural landscape painting by well utilizing the water resource, constructing water conservancy areas, and planting different trees along the islands, highways and rivers.
