“The company mainly uses industrial solid waste to produce zinc oxides, high-purity zinc oxides and other products, and the whole production process is energy-saving and environmentally friendly.” Hu Dongliang, deputy chief executive of the company, said that the company has 12 national utility model invention patents, and has completed the technical upgrading of many projects such as waste heat generation, with remarkable results in transformation and upgrading. 

 

It can effectively deal with the pollution caused by the decomposition of industrial solid wastes and create considerable economic benefits. Last year, the annual output value of the company was 300 million yuan. 

 

What’s more, the 50,000-ton electrolyte zinc, Haoyu Phase II project, is also under construction. Hu said that the Phase II project is to further process the zinc oxides of the Phase I project into zinc ingots. After completion, the economic and ecological benefits will be more prominent. 

 

 

Guiyang County is known as a “mineral capital” and a “treasure land” in ancient times, with rich minerals. There are more than 60 minerals identified in the county, including more than 20 identified nonferrous metal minerals such as lead, zinc, bismuth and antimony. The existing lead and zinc reserves are more than 3 million tons and more than 200 million tons respectively. And the potential economic value of non-ferrous metal minerals is more than 80 billion yuan.  

 

In recent years, Guiyang County has focused on promoting the development of non-ferrous metal industrial chain. The county has taken a series of measures to promote the characteristic development of different industrial parks. 

 

Guiyang Non-ferrous Scientific and Technological Industrial Park, a provincial key processing park for non-ferrous metals, was built. It focuses on smelting, comprehensive utilization and intensive processing of non-ferrous metals, and attracts investment and technology to develop the traditional mining industry. 

 

Now, one billion yuan has been invested to build supporting facilities and equipment such as Tanshan Avenue, sewage treatment plants and domestic water pipe network. There are 22 non-ferrous enterprises above a designated size in the county and 7 non-ferrous enterprises above a designated size in the park.   

 

The county actively guides nonferrous enterprises to conduct transformation and upgrade, and promotes green development. Yinxing and Haoyu have completed the technical upgrading and transformation of many projects such as waste heat power generation. The production transformation projects of Ruichi high purity zinc oxide and Yinlong zinc sand and Xingda secondary zinc oxide were completed and put into operation. 

 

More than 10 smelting enterprises have been upgraded. The recycling and comprehensive utilization of nonferrous resources also shows a good development trend. The secondary material handling enterprises are developing rapidly, and the tertiary material recycling enterprises are growing vigorously. 

 

At present, there are 3 enterprises above a designated size. The county has issued preferential policies in multiple aspects such as land, subsidies and talents to support the development of nonferrous enterprises. Nonferrous industry was included in one of the county’s seven 100-million-yuan industries. A joint assistance mechanism for key enterprises was built, and a “green channel” for nonferrous enterprises was opened to help them solve difficulties.

 

Meanwhile, the county vigorously promotes the construction of green mines, and implements ecological mining environment, scientific mining methods, efficient resource utilization, digitalization of management and harmonious transformation of mining communities. 

 

Now, 17 mines in the county started the construction of green mines as required, and 9 have been completed. 

 

Huangshaping Lead Zinc Ore and Hunan Baoshan Lead Zinc Silver Ore of Hunan Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. have become the first batch of provincial green mines, and have been included in the list of green mines of the Ministry of Natural Resources. It laid a solid foundation for promoting the green transformation and development of nonferrous metals industry. 

 

In the first 11 months this year, the mining and the smelting industries of non-ferrous metals in the county achieved the output value of 2.983 billion yuan and 6.933 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 33.32% and 52.73% respectively,
