It was learned from Chenzhou working conference of the three- year project of water conservancy and flood control & drought relief that from the year of 2012 to 2014, Chenzhou will launch the “three- year project of water conservancy” and try to accomplish 12 billion yuan investment on it.

In 2011, 2.6 billion yuan on different kinds of water conservancy projects were completed to remove about 6000 cubic meters of earth and stone, which ranked the first in investment and quantity input. For example, Suxian district established Control Bureau of Water Resources first in Hunan province; 11 counties and cities founded quality supervision departments to guarantee the safety; pilot work on integration control of water conservancy issues for Chenzhou Water Conservancy Bureau, Suxian district and Jiahe County was propelled stably.

It's known that Chenzhou city will continue the strength on key water conservancy projects construction to propel “safe water conservancy”, “well-being conservancy”, and “ecological conservancy” constructions; Chenzhou will accelerate the construction of Chenzhou central city ecological water conservancy project, “three -year project for water system greening”, sewage treatment project, heavy metal pollution treatment on Xiangjiang river, comprehensive treatment project on the source of three rivers, Dongjianghu lake comprehensive treatment, protection project on main sources of drinking water, and etc..

Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Mayor- Qu Hai emphasized it on the conference that Chenzhou should follow the concept of sustainable development to carry out water conservancy projects; should implement the strictest water resources management system to accelerate the construction of water conservancy infrastructures, innovate water conservancy development mechanism, and establish the modern water conservancy system with balance between human and water, which provided powerful water conservancy support and assurance to the social and economic development.

Meanwhile, it was stated on the conference that the volume of rainfall would decrease in the flood season but it would end later than earlier years and would rain more in June and July. When the flood season ends in July, Chenzhou may face a conspicuous drought season in summer and autumn. The above information urged all departments to keep hard working on flood control and drought relief.
