Dongjiang lake tangerine- a famous brand in Chenzhou market now is promoted to national wide markets, not just constrained in Chenzhou. When reporters visited Shanghai during the Middle Autumn Day and National Day holiday, they found Dongjiang lake tangerines had been sold in Shanghai fruit stores.
It was the first time for most of the store owners to sell Dongjiang lake tangerines. Compared with the famous brand Gongchuan tangerine, Dongjiang lake was a new brand with its specified local brand feature. It was cheaper than Gongchuan tangerine, but achieved good marketing effect according to the owners’ comments.
Its tangerine planting project was started from the middle of 1980s, till mow there have been about 0.117 million mu tangerine lands in Dongjiang lake area, Zixing, Chenzhou city. There are different high levels of brands available in this area. Zixing city was approved to be the standard base city of national green food raw materials in 2008 by China Green Food Development Center.
Tangerines planted in Dongjiang lake area were introduced to Shanghai market by some Fujian and Zhengjiang merchants in 2005. They have kept the businesses till now. But at the first beginning, there was no Dongjiaing lake brand. All were promoted by some other brands. Zixing government integrated the tangerine brands in 2009 by establishing more than 10 professional cooperatives heading by Dongjiang Lake Fruit Co., Ltd., and launched Dongjiang lake tangerine brand in the same year.
Zixing city’s local marketing agents took a significant part in promoting Dongjiang lake tangerine brand national wide. By attending some agricultural exhibitions, the agents promoted the brand to Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an, Wuhan and northeast cities of China, etc.. This year, over 0.3 million kilo grams of Dongjiang lake tangerines were sold out in Shanghai.
