Resource urban economy turns from “black” to “green”

“Transformation of the resource city is one of the major and urgent realistic subjects concerned for the further development of Chenzhou city. Thanks to the mineral resources, Chenzhou reached a fast and prosperous development in the earlier age. But on the other hand, it also caused Chenzhou to involve into an unsustainable development situation with severe problems of environmental protection and social development. It is extremely urgent for Chenzhou to carry out the transformation development now. In order to achieve upgrading and transformation, Chenzhou government should insist on the way to decrease mine quantity while enlarge the scale, enhance the industry and upgrade quality and efficiency.”

In recent years, Chenzhou forcefully carried out the resource integration work, like fulfilling the treatment and integration of 19 key mines, decreasing the quantity of coal mines from 576 to 165 and non-coal mines from 747 to 125, deducting the mining rights from 1295 to 577, etc.. To be positioned as international gateway city

Xiang remarked Chenzhou government should seize the chance of constructing a national demonstration zone of south Hunan undertaking industrial transfer to accelerate the construction of non-ferrous industry “five-one” strategy system and establish a “non-ferrous metal city of China”.
