Xiarong express way and Hengwu express way (Chenzhou section) were opened to traffic on December 23, 2012. The two expressways will greatly help to upgrade the transportation capacity of Chenzhou city.
Chenzhou section of Xiarong expressway covers 116 administrative villages, 31 towns, and 6 counties (districts) of Chenzhou city with 194kms long principal lines, 12kms long connection lines, and 80km/h designed speed. It is the first traffic artery that runs from east to west in Chenzhou city. Chenzhou section of Hengwu expressway covers 108 administrative villages, 27 towns, 4 counties of Chenzhou city with 131kms long principal lines, 28kms connection lines and 100kms/h designed speed.

It is revealed by the spokesman of Chenzhou Government that the opening of expressway can help to undertake the irradiation effect of “Pearl river delta” and “Yangtze river delta” and change the traffic condition of eastern mountainous areas basically. It is also significant to mobilize the development of Chenzhou economy and society, promote the development of resources, logistic and upgrade the transportation junction role of Chenzhou highway nexus.
