Recently, experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology visited Yongxing County to take the field investigation and assessment on the establishment of national sustainable development experimental zone. The work carried by Yongxing County on the establishment was highly affirmed by the experts. They all agreed on recommending Yongxing County to be one of the candidates of the comprehensive assessment handled by 20 ministries and commissions on the national sustainable development experimental zone.

The national sustainable experimental zone is a demonstration pilot work carried out by 20 ministries and commissions for the sustainable development of local economy. This demonstration pilot work is mainly for upgrading the capacity of sustainable development of economy and society with the support of advanced technologies, innovative mechanisms and system construction, and with the exploration of different mechanisms and models suitable for local practical economy, society and environment condition.

In recent years, Chenzhou city has strongly promoted the construction of sustainable development experimental zone. With all the efforts, Zixing city successfully established the national sustainable development experimental zone firstly in Chenzhou city and further was upgrade to be a demonstration zone. Yongxing County became Hunan provincial sustainable experimental development zone in 2010 and it started the application work of national level zone in the first half year of 2012.
