The President of Export Processing Zone of China Free Trade Zone- Zhen Pu led a team to investigate Chenzhou Export Processing Zone on May 23, 2013. They visited some enterprises in the export processing zone and listened to the report on the construction development and processing trade condition of the zone. It was introduced that in the first four months of 2013, $390 million was hit in the zone with an increase of 191%. Now Chenzhou government is working on upgrading Chenzhou export processing zone to be the national level comprehensive free trade zone.

Currently, there were 18 enterprises settled down in the zone. 12 of them were export processing trade companies which were mainly on the business of electronic information, new materials, etc.. In 2012, $1.026 billion processing trade amount was accomplished in the zone with an increase of 277.82%, covering 53.7% of Chenzhou city’s total processing trade volume. 2 more companies there operated the actual performance of processing trade in 2012. According to the data, Chenzhou export processing zone kept increasing in the earlier 3 years from $72.82 million in 2010 to $1.026 billion in 2012, which greatly helped to improve the development of Chenzhou undertaking industrial transfer, export processing transformation and upgrading, expansion of trade, and promotion of employment.

Zhen Pu highly affirmed the achievements reached by Chenzhou export processing zone and required it to seize current better condition chance to play actively on undertaking industrial transfer to form its unique brand and advantage. At the meantime, more favorable policies should be applied by the zone to carry out reform and innovation to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the processing trade and improve Chenzhou’s economy.
