“More efforts should be placed on afforestation work to establish the forest ecological barrier to the City.”

“More efforts should be placed on the implementation of water ecological civilization construction on the basis of the national pilot city construction of water ecological civilization, especially on rivers, lakes, reservoirs, etc.”

Many suggestions similar to above statements were presented by the attendants of symposium of Chenzhou city’s ecological civilization construction work.

One of the key topics for this symposium was discussion on “decision on promoting ecological civilization construction (discussion draft)”. According to the decision, a strategy called “greening rise-up, ecological city” would be implemented forcefully to meet the target of “city in the forest, leisure city” in Chenzhou city. Ecological civilization construction would be promoted as the general grasp of Chenzhou city’s economical and social development and comprehensive pattern of it would be formed accordingly.

It was agreed that as a civilization form of the harmonious, virtuous, sustainable and overall development between human and nature, human being and human being, and human and society, ecological civilization was a kind of introspection of past civilization especially industrial civilization, and a kind of integration and remodeling of current civilization as well. In order to promote the ecological civilization, overall planning and top-level design should be carried out fully on different aspects as economical construction, political construction, cultural construction, and social construction.

In accordance with the goal set by Chenzhou city, by 2015, the forest coverage rate of the city should be with 66.2%, greening coverage rate of urban area should be more than 44%, treatment rate of domestic sewage should be over 85%, and it should be successful established as pilot city of national ecological civilization demonstration project.
