It was learned from Guidong County Industry Office that Guidong county was awarded as “2013 annual national tea producing county” by China Tea Circulation Association. It was the first time for Guidong county to be named in this list and was the second national level award won by the county.
In recent years, followed with the requirements to improve people’s living condition with better brand promotion, Guidong county played much attention on the development of tea producing. Some favorable policies as “decision for the acceleration of tea industry development” and others were issued by the county. Every year, 10 million yuan special fund for tea industry development was collected by Guidong county from 2010. Besides that, some other favorable policies were granted on the development of tea industry as tea base construction, cultivation management, processing, brand promotion, etc. It was purposely to forge the county as “China’s county of tea”. Till now, 7 Linglong tea cooperatives and 9 Linglong tea specialized villages have been developed in the county. 80,000 mu tea gardens are available in Guidong county, facilitated with the most advanced and largest scale green tea production lines in Hunan province. It was introduced that annual total output of tea was about 2600 tons, amounting to 360 million yuan. 30,000 farmers involved in this tea industry which helped to increase their per capita income of over 1500yuan. Guidong county became one of the five key support counties on tea industry in Hunan province.
Meanwhile, Guidong county also paid much attention on the promotion of tea culture to upgrade its brand charm. Some ecological tea gardens and fined tea cultural leisure tourism lines were developed by the county to attract more attention nationwide.
