When reporters arrived at Dongxi community, Yuanjia town, Jiahe county, many workers were busy with the afforestation work of 6 barren mountains there. It was introduced that Zhongliang Afforestation Company successfully auctioned 1500mu barren mountains for afforestation recently. It was learned from Jiahe Forestry Bureau that with the enhanced forces on afforestation work, 0.12 million mu barren mountain were afforested with greening trees, which upgraded the forestry coverage rate of the county from 39.2% to 44.53%.

Jiahe county is the non-key forestry county of Chenzhou city and is the exclusive one as well for its short forest resources. Due to the ice disaster happened in 2008, the county’s forest resources were damaged worse, the forest coverage rate was even under 36%. In order to improve the forest condition of the county, some scientific decisions were specified by Jiahe County Party Committee and Jiahe Government to forcefully carry out the afforestation work.

It was learned that more than 200 million yuan was collected by Jiahe Financial Department in recent three years to handle the afforestation work of barren mountains, 70 million of which was issued by the financial department directly. The average investment on the 0.5 million mu forest of Jiahe county far surpassed the average level of Chenzhou city. Currently, a leading group conference on 2014 urban and rural greening projects was held in Jiahe county. Specified target for the afforestation of this year was figured out on the conference. It was estimated to be upgraded with 0.46 million mu forest in Jiahe county till 2015.
