It was introduced that followed with the principal to promote tea industry as Guidong county’s featured, advanced and leading project, now Guidong county’s tea plantation area is improved to be 80,000mu. It is facilitated with most advanced and largest scale green tea production line of Hunan province with annual output of 2,600 tons of tea, amounting to 360 million yuan, which enabled it to be one of the five key counties with best support of tea industry development of Hunan province. Currently, Guidong county was awarded as one of “2013 annual national key tea-producing counties” by China Tea Circulation Association. It was the first time for Guidong county to won this national title.

Guidong county located in high-altitude but low-latitude region and is with humid subtropical monsoon climate, which is much suitable for tea plantation. From late Ming Dynasty, Guidong people started their tea producing industry. In recent years, more favorable policies on the promotion of tea industry were released by Guidong county, and much more special funds were collected by Guidong financial to encourage the tea industry development. It was purposely to forge a “tea county of China” with high level and famous tea industry. Till now, seven specialized cooperatives of Linglong tea and eight specialized villages of Linglong tea have been developed in Guidong county, involving 30,000 people into this industry with an increasing income of per capita 1500 yuan. Now, tea industry becomes one of its leading industries.

Guidong county place much more attention on the quality control of tea with advanced technology to make sure the industry to be upgraded as ecological, high quality and high efficient tea industry. Linglong tea is one of its famous brands which was awarded as “Hunan provincial famous brand product” and “Hunan provincial famous trademark”and successfully promoted as a“national geographical indications protection product”. Furthermore, Linglong tea’s traditional workmanship has been enrolled into Hunan provincial “intangible cultural heritage”list.
