When reporters arrived at Xihe village, Yanquan town of Yizhang county on November 28, 2013, some villagers were busy in working on the newly built greenhouses. At the meantime, the upgrading work on some roads was handling out well accordingly in the greenhouses area.

Furthermore, some training courses were carried out by the technicians of agriculture to teach farmers with the nursery technologies. It was introduced by Yao Xiaoyang- one of the investors and local villagers that the greenhouses were suitable for cultivating the tobacco and some anti-season vegetables. With the support of Yizhang County Tobacco Office and Yanquan Town Government, some greenhouses of tobacco were newly built in the village. The only way for further improvement of villagers’ living condition and increase of income was the modernization and standardization of agriculture. Yao was used to be a long distance bus driver. After learning the favorable policies issued by the government on support of agricultural development, Yao decided to come back hometown and start the tobacco plantation project.

More than 6 million yuan has been placed on the construction of standardized greenhouses of tobacco nursery in Xihe village. At the meantime, the supporting projects as nursery filed, warehouses, baking filed, curing barns, etc. would be handled out accordingly. These nursery greenhouses were expected to provide 5000 mu filed with the seedlings of tobacco.
It was said by Yao Jijun- one of the staffs of Quanxi flue-cured tobacco cooperative of Xihe village that to upgrade the quality of the seedlings of tobacco, decrease the labor cost and increase the income, more technologies should be applied to the standardized nursery. Currently, workers were busy with the construction issues. Once the first batch of over 50 nursery greenhouses finished, the standardized nursery work would be carried out accordingly afterward.

As introduced by Village Secretary of Xihe village that a tobacco cooperative has been established in this 3200 population village. The seven greenhouses covering over 20 mu areas were set in the platform of one mountain behind curing house of Xihe village. More than 20 technicians and 80 local villagers were hired by local investors. According to the data, the total area for Xihe village’s tobacco plantation hit 1100 mu now with the efforts of all villagers.

Zeng Zhifang- one of the cadres of Yanquan Town Government that followed with the adjustment of agricultural structure, the total tobacco plantation areas of the town were amounted to 3200 mu, which was mainly for three key 1000-mu tobacco demonstrations of Maopingtou in Zhoujiawan village, Xihe village and Shaxi village. More than 10 nursery greenhouses have been constructed in the town to cultivate the tobacco seedlings and ensure their quality. It was also learned that some professional technicians from Liuyang city, Hunan province were invited to guide the construction of the greenhouse.

It was introduced that this kind of nursery greenhouses construction greatly mobilized the enthusiasm of the villagers to take part in the tobacco industry, and helped to promote the improvement of tobacco production, upgrade the quality of the nursery and ensure the efficient tobacco seedlings supply for next year. Furthermore, by seizing the chance of the improvement of water conservancy construction, 0.3 million funds was obtained by the town to handle the agricultural infrastructure construction. Many villagers benefited well from all the measures with increasing income.

Hu Zhong- Secretary of the Yanquan Town Party Committee stated that they were more confident to improve the industrialization of agriculture on the basis of the comprehensive arrangement of the deepening rural reform listed in the third session of 18th National Congress of CPC. The town’s government would keep paying more efforts on the improvement of tobacco industry with higher technology and help to increase people’s income accordingly.
