It was introduced that Chenzhou city started to promote the new silos in 2008. Till now, 82,000 peasants were facilitated with this kind of new scientific silos. “Scientific grain storage project” was carried out in 2013 in all the districts and counties of Chenzhou city, which helped to hold 26 training courses for 15,000 people and build 19,300 silos to the peasants. 

“Scientific grain storage project” covered different activities as the administrative department of grain helped to build a 1.5 cubic meters capacity silo for every demonstration farmer, hold training courses on grain storage and technology, issue some brochures of grain storage, etc. All those activities helped to enrich farmers’ knowledge on scientific grain storage to decrease their loss on the storage process and ensure the safety of grain.

In recent years, central government promoted the “special action of scientific grain storage project” forcefully to popularize the technology of scientific grain storage and decrease their loss. The State, local government and peasant followed the proportion of 30%, 30% and 40% to bear the cost of this project. In order to implement this well-being project well, some special propaganda working teams were deployed by the grain sectors of Chenzhou city to advertise relative policies. Every voluntary family would be capable to facilitate with a set of favorable scientific silo with the help of finance, Agriculture Office, New Rural Construction Office, and township villages.

It was introduced that the new silo promoted by Chenzhou city was made of hot-dip galvanized steel. It is easily to be operated by the farmers and with some advantages on pest control, mould proof, quality maintaining, etc. The expiration time for this new silo is over 15 years. If peasants buy it from ordinary market, it would cost 450 yuan, but because of the favorable policy, they just need to spend 150 yuan to buy from the government.
