Working conference of environment protection & further promotion of ecological environment protection of Dongjiang lake was held in Chenzhou city

It was reported that a working conference of environment protection & further promotion of ecological environment protection of Dongjiang lake was held in Chenzhou city on January 21, 2014. It was purposely to summarize the environment protection achievements reached by Chenzhou city in 2013 and deploy the key work of 2014. Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City and Liu Yaochen- Minister of Hunan Provincial Environment Protection Ministry were present at the conference and delivered important speeches there.

In 2013, all annual tasks of environment protection were fulfilled by Chenzhou city. 1.76 billion yuan funds were obtained from central government and Hunan provincial government; pollutants discharge reduction targets were estimated to be finished; air quality was kept within national secondary standard; 15 drinking water protection zones’ water quality was with 100% qualified rate; Dongjiang lake was covered into national support ecological lakes list successfully. In 2014, more efforts would be tried on the following issues: first “three-year action” for protection and renovation of Xiangjiang river, further promotion of Dongjiang lake ecological environment protection, prevention of atmospheric contamination, heavy metal pollution control, emission reduction of key pollutants, comprehensive renovation for rural environment, etc. All the actions were mainly for building a beautiful Chenzhou city.

Qu Hai stated that environment protection was the objective requirement for the promotion of ecological civilization construction, the inevitable choice for scientific development and urgent need for improvement of ecological condition. All departments should forcefully promote the comprehensive renovation of environment pollution with highlights; promote the ecological environment protection of Dongjiang lake; promote the protection of Chenzhou section of Xiangjiang river; and promote the environment renovation of rural area especially Chenzigui “two-oriented society” demonstration belt.

Liu Yaochen highly affirmed the environment protection work handled out by Chenzhou city in recent years with the concept of safe development and green development. Liu stated that Hunan Provincial Environment Protection Ministry would keep supporting the transformation development of Chenzhou city, supporting the development of some good projects of Chenzhou city, supporting the pollution control projects of Chenzhou city, and supporting the construction of environment protection and supervision of Chenzhou city.

Liu expressed his willing that Chenzhou city could provide sound experience on the transformation development, environment protection and ecological construction for other cities of Hunan province.

Some Hunan provincial leaders and Chenzhou municipal leaders attended the conference.
