It was reported that a working conference on Dongjiang river’s diversion project was held recently by the project’s leading group. It was purposely to learn the working progress of this project and discuss some problems hindered on the way of its further development and find solutions accordingly. Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City required that all departments should try best to promote the project to be started at the earliest time and make people benefit from this project.

The preliminary design on construction of plant areas and water conveyance system of the project, preliminary design on water-intake and diversion tunnel of the project and the preparation working report were carefully discussed on the conference. According to the design solution, the engineering of flow by gravity would be applied to this diversion project. It was estimated to start the construction work in 2014 and finish it in 2017 with an investment of about 1.2 billion yuan. According to the construction solution, some work on land acquisition, removal and compensation would be finished in the middle of this May and the tunnel water-intake construction would be launched in this November.

Qu stated that Dongjiang river’s diversion project was an important well-being project which concerned for the continuous development of Chenzhou city’s society and economy. Once finished, the project would efficiently help to ease the pressure of water supply in Chenzhou urban area. Thanks for the efforts tried by all relative departments that the preliminary preparation work was promoted well currently. All of them should try to promote the project to be started sooner on the basis of current sound work condition.

Qu said it was the breakthrough period for Dongjiang river’s diversion project currently, all engineering design units should perfect the water taking and supply solution repeatedly to ensure the final implementation solution to be the best one. All relative departments should pay high attention to promote the preliminary work and provide better financing service to ensure all the preliminary work to be fulfilled on time. At the meantime, enhanced communication with upper level departments should be handled by the departments to obtain more favorable supports on both capitals and policies. Furthermore, better propaganda work should be carried out to inform the masses with progresses of the project and guide them to support it.
