Once succeed, Chenzhou city will be the third national forest city of Hunan province

Chenzhou city was first set in Qin Dynasty. As for Chinese character “郴”(Chen), it means city in the forest, which indicated the long history of Chenzhou city’s green culture.
Three years ago, Chenzhou city launched the project to establish national forest city. Series greening projects were promoted from the launching day.
Suxianling, Wangxianling, Luoxianling and some other parks of Chenzhou city are full of green images, birds, flowers, and etc. in early of summer. Some citizens are gathered in the parks to enjoy their leisure lives.

It was introduced by Deng Shaolin- Deputy Director of the office of establishment of national forest city that the target for the establishment was to enable citizens to enjoy green view on stepping outside and to upgrade Chenzhou city to be a livable city. It was required by Chenzhou government that the whole city should be covered with green and beautiful view by planting trees. Now, Chenzhou city is a real city in the forest and all citizens’ families are in the forest. Green lands are available every 500meters in outdoor and parks and gardens are available for every community that people can have fun outdoor.

The key point for the greening work of urban area was for the old area. Suxian district and Beihu district tried great efforts to remove the illegal buildings and walls and replanted there with green trees. Green lands, squares and parks were established in some open spaces. Trees and flowers were planted along the road sides.

Nanling Botanic Garden which was located near the central area was with 200 spare spaces. Though the real estate companies showed their great interests in it, Chenzhou government chose to expand the garden by placing 12million yuan more investment there. Thanks for the government effort, over 9000 rare and precious seedlings were planted in the garden and 6 specific categorized botanic gardens as osmanthus fragrans garden, sakura garden, azalea garden, and etc. were formed there. Citizens and visitors can enjoy different types of plants there.

Concerning for the banks along rivers, some greening projects and renovation projects were handled out there to improve the environment conditions. Some leisure and fitness places were set along the rivers to enrich people’s daily life. Green trees and flowers were planted on the road sides, viaducts and side slopes. Some parking lots and small gardens were established in the corners.

All the improvements upgraded Chenzhou city to be new ready forest city in south of Hunan province.

Colorful ecological villages are available in Chenzhou city

Cinnamomum camphora, elaeocarpus sylvestris, sakura, osmanthus fragrans, magnolia and some other plants were planted along national road 106 provincial road 324 of Guidong county and Rucheng county.

Actually, this kind of green gallery was available to the villagers’gates.

Tanwu, Xiazhu, Duishang and some other villages of Rucheng county are full of landscape forests and roads, greening belts, small gardens, green courtyards, and etc. Besides the landscape forest, some economy forest are facilitated there, which are helpful to increase local people’s income as well.

500million yuan was placed on the greening projects of Rucheng county in recent three years. Leaders of the county were arranged with specified work to ensure the new planting trees to be alive and to ensure the colorful four-season landscapes to be available in Rucheng county. Xiang Lili- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee highly praised the county’s work that: “besides Guangdong province, we can study the forest ecology from Rucheng county.”

Mount Mangshan and Dongjiang Lake are the two famous brands of Chenzhou city’s green image now. Yizhang county and Zixing city placed great attention on planting the landscape forest. The villages around “foggy small Dongjiang river” are covered with green trees, which forms a beautiful ecological image to attract many photographers to gather there.

Yindu Square in Xiangyindu town of Yongxing county is covered with over 10 thousands of trees, which was once a mission impossible to plant trees in this stony desertification area. A 200-year old tree stands in Baokou village to guard the local people.

Chenzhou city is full of the charm of green now.

Industrial transfer helped the mines to be improved as gardens

Chenzhou city was famous as “county of China’s non-ferrous metals” and“county of amorphous graphite”. Mineral economy was one of its key industries, which affected the environmental protection work.

Along with the promotion of establishment of national forest city, the industrial transformation work was promoted as well to change the industry from resource consumption industry to eco-friendly industry. Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government deeply carried out the establishment work in these three years.

Over 200 enterprises were introduced to settle down in Chenzhou Export Processing Zone where is circled with green trees and flowers. It was introduced that over $3 billion was reached for Chenzhou processing trade in 2013, which enabled Chenzhou city to be in a top place on Hunan province’s processing trade.

“The reason for the enterprise to be attracted here was for the identification of Chenzhou city’s greening work.”said the principal of Delta Electronics (Chenzhou). They considered that if the local government paid attention to greening and ecological work, it indicated that their businesses can be improved there in a long-term.

Xiameiqiao sub-district which was used to be an industrial zone was with poor condition in earlier years. It was listed as one of the key projects for the establishment of national forest city. More investment was placed on the expansion of roads, greening of roads, clear-up of old industrial zones, afforestation work, establishment of small gardens, and etc.
If you come to Xiameiqiao sub-district now, a totally new image is available there. Longnv hot spring which is one of the most famous hot springs in Chenzhou city was located there. Thanks to the improvement of the environmental condition there, the hot spring’s businesses were improved greatly. According to the plan, a leisure center would be formed here.

Guiyang county placed over 20million yuan on the greening work of Guiyang Baoshan Copper Mine. Over 3 million trees were planted there to recover the green image of the mine.

“Only if the trees are alive, everything will be fine.”said Luo Bangfu- Director of Guiyang Forestry Bureau. As introduced by Luo, Guiyang county was working on upgrading Guiyang Baoshan Mine Park to be national 4A landscape in 5 years, so more visitors can be attracted there with this mine tourism brand. It would be helpful to guide the industrial transformation and green development as well.
