It was learned from Chenzhou Animary Husbandry and Aquatic Products Bureau that two Hunan provincial genetic resources reservation zones of Zixing section of Zheshui river where was mainly for protection of Capoeta semifasciolata of Mastacembelus armatus and Rucheng section of Shangyou river where was mainly for protection of Neptune shell were approved by Hunan Animary Husbandry and Aquatic Products Bureau. Once the reservation zones established, Chenzhou city’s aquatic products would be with better production and the sustainable development of fishery economy.

The reservation zone of Zixing section of Zheshui river for key protection of Capoeta semifasciolata of Mastacembelus armatus was located in Zixing city. It covered with 1246.5hectares areas, including 294.9hectares core areas and 951hectares experimental area. Besides the protection of specified species, some other animations as Erythroculter ilishaeformis, Erythroculter mongolicus, Siniperca scherzeri, and etc. were covered into the protection list. The special protection period was from March 1 to June 30 every year. The reservation zone of Rucheng section of Shangyou river for key protection of Neptune shell was located in Shangyou river- the branch of Ganjiang river in Rucheng county. It was 4.44kms long with 11hectares areas. Besides Neptune shell, it would pay attention to the protection of shrimp, crab, river fish, frog, turtle, and etc. Its special protection period was from March 1 to June 30 every year.

Till now, there were one national level and 3 Hunan provincial level aquatic products resources reservation zones available in Chenzhou city. The other two zones were national aquatic products genetic resources reservation zone for Channa maculate in Leishui river and Hunan provincial aquatic products genetic resources reservation zone for Pelteobagrus fulvidraco of Xenocypris davidi in Linwu section of Wushui river.
