When reporters arrived at the 10,000mu vegetable base for HK which is located in Rucheng county in the morning of November 26, 2015, some villagers were busy in loading the vegetables to the trucks transported to HK. It was learned that the high quality green vegetables produced there are popular in HK market.

Rucheng county is an agricultural county near Shaoguan city of Guangdong province. Its agriculture industry places significant roles in county economy. Thanks to the fertile soil, abundant rain, sufficient sunshine, and industrial pollution-free condition, it becomes an ideal place for cultivating different high quality vegetables. In recent years, Rucheng county took the best advantages of its sound location, environment, climate, and etc. to dock with Guangdong, HK and Macau markets by implementing “shipping basket” project strategy. It introduced some powerful investors to build the large-scale and standardized high quality vegetable base which specialized on producing some high quality vegetables as cabbages, cucurbits, garlic, beans, pop pepper, and etc.

By carrying out the operation model of “company+ major planter + base + farmer” , Rucheng county attracted Guangzhou Yuewang Agriculture Co., Ltd. to place 115million yuan investment there on building 680mu standardized steel and plastic greenhouses and1500mu open-air vegetable base, and connect about 8000mu vegetable bases in surrounding towns and counties. It paid special attention on setting up 1000-ton processing cold refrigeration and bunkers for vegetables and 2 dehydrated vegetables processing lines. All the products are exported to over 50 stores of HK directly. Rucheng county also signed a long term agreement concerned for 120,000tons fruits and vegetables supply annually, which was with the assistance of Hunan Changqingfa Agriculture Co., Ltd. and HK Import Vegetable Wholesale Chamber. It introduced Changqingfa Company to place over 300million yuan on constructing 100,000-mu vegetable base for HK in Daping town and Jingpo county, and building 3000-mu core base of vegetable, 10 smart seedling greenhouses covered with 50mu lands, and 1000-mu high standardized greenhouses.

“2000mu of the 100,000-mu vegetable base for HK have yield vegetables. More than 2 trucks vegetables would be delivered to HK every day, accounting for 200,000yuan output value. Once fully finished, it can provide 100,000tons vegetables for HK annually, accounting for 300million yuan output value.” gladly introduced by Mr. Li who is a merchant from other place invested the base. Ye Jianfeng, Secretary of Taiping County Party Committee, told the reporters, the base would drive the whole county to improve over 50,000mu vegetable cultivation, and would help to settle thousands villagers’ problems of employment and increase over 60million yuan income.

It was learned that Rucheng county integrated over 10million yuan to place on vegetable cultivation and supporting facilities construction by handling some measures as government guidance, investment attraction, company operation, major planters’ demonstration, participation of villagers, and etc. It mainly supported the construction of 30,000-mu pod pepper base centralized with Yanshou town and Maqiao town, 10,000-mu winter vegetable base centralized with Quanshui town, 3000mu special vegetable base of Tianzhuang town, 3000mu bean base of Maqiao town, and etc. Till now, 180,000mu vegetable bases have been cultivated in Rucheng county with the annual production capacity of 237,000tons vegetables, accounting for 370million yuan output value.
