When reporters arrived at navel orange and tea base of Shangliao village, Meitian town, the farmers were working hard on the fields to take care of their trees. New sprouts of navel orange and tea have burgeoned.

Liu Xianyu who is the Secretary of Party Branch gladly said to the reporters that navel oranges were with good harvest in last year. Thanked to the sound marketing and online marketing, people’s income was doubled in last year. Because of last year’s good results, farmers took active actions to handle the work in the new year.

There are 8500mu navel orange base, 450mu tea base, one pig farm which is with annual slaughter capacity of 9500 pigs, beef farm and sheep farm available in Shangliao village. Followed the development idea of “transferring underground to over-ground, black to green, short-term to long-term”, Shangliao village gradually broke away from coal mine industry and enlarged the agricultural industry. The party committees guided people to plant trees in the mountain and establish collective enterprises. Till the end of 2015, the village’s collective assets were amounted to 29million yuan, which greatly improved people’s living condition.

According to 2016 administrative divisions, Shangliao village and Jiandichong village would be merged into one. Huang Yiru who is the Secretary of Party Branch said confidently to the reporters: “we will play the best role of Shangliao village’s ready platform and Jiandichong village’s ridge land resources to promote the development of modern agriculture, and then lead villagers to enjoy sound development and well-off life.”

It was learned that Shangliao village planned to develop 1500mu navel orange and 200mu flue-cured tobacco in 2016, and guide Jiandichong to expand the pig farm with annual slaughter capacity of 1500 pigs. Currently, 1100mu lands have been leveled and 160mu tobacco lands have been ploughed.
