In the first half year of 2016, Dongjiang Hydropower Station blocked 15 times of peak flow, accounting for 4.477billion cubic meters of water. Thanks to the large impoundment capacity of the water reservoir of Dongjiang Power Station and accurate & efficient blocking of peak flow, the flood control work of downstream and safety of people were well guaranteed.

In order to meet the demands of flood control, Dongjiang Hydropower Station empty the storage of water in the beginning of this year, which enabled its water level to be dropped lower than 270 elevations and provided sound condition for the flood control. From this March to June, about 15times of peak flow happened in the basin of Dongjiang River. The latest one happened on June 15, 2016 with the flow of 1512cubic meters/ second, and the largest one happened on March 21, 2016 with the flow of 2621 cubic meters/ second. Though it suffered from such frequent peak flow, Dongjiang Hydropower Station blocked all the flows and discharged to downstream smoothly, which played a determinant role on flood control and granted people in the downstream with safe condition.

In order to survive from the flood period safely, Dongjiang Hydropower Station maintained and tested the automatic water monitoring spots set in 4 counties before the flood period and enhanced the monitoring work. According to the data, its forecast of floods is over 95%, while the highest one was 99%. The deviation of flow is 0 hour. It also shared the flood information with Hunan Provincial Flood Control Center, providing the center with reliable information for figuring out scientific solution and flood control measures.

Currently, the level of Dongjiang Water Reservoir was kept in 280meters elevation and over 1 billion cubic meters capacity is workable for us.
