It was learned from the symposium for application of ground cover plants and habitat restoration which was held by Hunan Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Department that Rucheng county was inaugurated with the plate of "national garden county" by the State Housing Ministry. There is a new name card available for Rucheng county now.

Rucheng county placed great efforts on the establishment of national garden county from 2013, no matter capitals or labour forces. Greening work for parks, communities, courtyards, production areas, water areas, and etc. was handled out well, which shaped Zheshui river landscape belt, county peripheral and inner loop ecosystems, and 19 parks as Lianxi Park, Zhuozheng Park, and etc. Currently, "one belt, two circles, 6 rivers, and 10 parks" county ecological system was being established in the county, covering 328.05 hectares with 36.45% greening land rate.

In 2015, Rucheng county was past the on-site checking and approval of national garden county, and was entitled as "national garden county" in this February, which was enabled it to be one of the two national garden counties of Hunan province.
