Currently, if you are visiting Yizhang County, you will be amazed by the harvest navel oranges. Thousands of visitors were attracted there to enjoy the fresh oranges. The 3rd Yizhang Navel Orange Festival & 1st Yizhang Food Festival was held in Pingle Villa which is located in the 10000mu navel orange park. Navel orange carving and cutting contest, farm travelling, gourmet tasting, and other events made visitors excitedly.

Docking conference for the hotels and poverty stricken villages, Yizhang Food Festival, and other colourful events attracted tens of organizations as catering enterprises, travel agencies, self-driving travel association, and etc. to travel there. 

Yizhang is main production area of one of the three orange industrial belts of China: South Jiangxi- South Hunan- North Guangxi, as well as one of the 8 major navel orange production counties of Hunan Province. Thanks to the advantages on warm climate, rich rain, long frost-free season, and red soil, the navel orange produced here taste greatly and are awarded with many golden prizes in the agricultural expos held in different places of China. It was selected as national navel orange material base county of green food and national demonstration county of standardized agriculture (navel orange).

Assisted with the technological support of Huazhong Agricultural University and Hunan Agricultural University, Yizhang County selected navel orange as the pillar industry of its “one county, one product” project. It built two core demonstration bases as West Ecological Agricultural Demonstration Farm and Meitian Town Shangliao Ecological Farm. A batch of bases and more than 6500families were mobilized to join in the navel orange industry.

In order to expand the marketing, the county place over 3million yuan on promoting the development of ecommerce park. The navel oranges were delivered nationwide with sound marketing price of 5-10yuan/kg.

“It is great to follow the way of green ecological navel orange. Our family can be favoured with 350,000yuan income by the 7500kgs navel oranges harvested in our 50mu farm,” said confidently by Cao Qiukang who is one of the navel orange farmers of Yizhang County.

Currently, there are 182,000mu navel oranges available in Yizhang county, which is with the production capacity of 100,000tons every year, contributing 450million yuan output value. It has been improved as a key poverty alleviation industry of the county.
