Recently, Chenzhou City was named the 8th batch (2016) of national water-saving city, and was the only listed city in Hunan Province.

Since 2013, Chenzhou has started the building work of water-saving city, and taking the assessment indicators of national water-saving city as the main line, has completed all index task in a planned and step-by-step manner. The urban water supply, industrial water consumption, domestic water consumption, and leakage rate of water supply network decreased year by year, the water-saving enterprises, units, communities, water-saving financial investment and rainwater utilization increased year by year, and the urban water-saving facilities and water management level rose steadily.

At present, the city has 37 domestic water companies (units) to create a provincial water-saving enterprises (units), water-saving enterprises (units) coverage rate of 30.3%; 10 communities were awarded the tile of "water-saving community in Hunan Province", coverage of 5.8%. Chenzhou City was created to the “water-saving city in Hunan Province" in 2015.
