On August 16, the author was informed from the National Jade Standardization Technical Committee that Linwu Tongtian jade was included in the national standard list of "Classification and denomination of quartz jade", marking the Tongtian jade officially entered the ranks of national gem.

Tongtian jade is named for production in the Tongtian mountain area of Linwu County and quartz is the main mineral component. The common colors are white, yellow, red, brown, gray, blue, etc., the Mohs hardness of 6～7, the density of 2.60 ~ 2.70g / cm3 and the refractive index of 1.535 ~ 1.553.

Tongtian jade has fine quality, rich color and strong carving ability. The works engraved with Tongtian jade are much loved and collected by the public.

It was noted that Linwu County is the only county to produce jade in Hunan Province. In 2015, the local standard of Tongtian Jade was promulgated and implemented, which is the first and only local standard of jade in Hunan Province. The jade resources in Linwu County are rich in reserves and have many varieties, good texture, high mining value and long cycle. The potential development value reaches hundreds of billions yuan, with very broad development prospects.

Recently, Linwu County has registered 23 companies (of which 5 enterprises above designated size), more than 100 jade sales processing plants, and more than 20,000 employees, sales amounted to 300 million yuan.
